Life in Mexico is different than in the states. It's a foreign country with different ways of operating
and doing business. Because we reside deeper in Mexico, and are not a border town ministry, we
don't have the luxury of being able to get funds for operation in Mexico from a close-by bank in the
states. Because part of your group fees will go towards your work projects here in Mexico, this
means at certain times we need to have access to large amounts of funds. Because there is a daily
limit ($300) of money that can be drawn out of Mexican ATM's during a 24 hour period, we often
cannot access enough funds to purchase or pay for your building materials for your work projects.
Also, we have to drive some distance to access an ATM and on frequent occasions the ATM's are
out of service, or not dependable. In addition to funds needed for your work projects, there will be
expenses incurred upon the ministry base while your group is here (electricity, propane, water, gas
& etc,) and general ministry expenses. If funds are not available, ministry can be shut down or
seriously jeopardized. Unlike in the U.S., virtually all business in Mexico is done via cash. Checks
are the rare exception, not the norm. Therefore, in order to purchase your building materials, cover
ministry expenses and expenses incurred on the ministry base, we ask that your group fees be
brought with you to Mexico. In order to accommodate you we do not ask for a per person deposit
ahead of time like many other ministries. We simply ask you to bring your group fees when you
come to Mexico. In the event that paying with U.S. dollars presents you with a hardship, you're a
larger group, or you just feel uncomfortable, please let us know and we'll you can pay part or all via
check to our stateside address.
We hope you understand the differences of doing business in Mexico and that we are not a border
town ministry who is able to get funds across the border in the U.S. Over the years we have found
that it just works best for us to operate in this way. U.S. dollars are readily accepted in Mexico and
therefore, easy to use. We have been operating with this system now for many years and there
has been virtually no problem to date.
To bring down your group fees, simply go to your bank, and ask them for dollars. This can then be
put in an envelope and put in a safe place until your arrival in Mexico. Upon your arrival, your group
fees can be paid and you'll be presented with a formal receipt.
Once again, in the event that bringing your group fees with you in the form of cash presents a
problem, just let us know and you can pay your group fees to our stateside address.
Thank you for your understanding.
